I have talked a little about vibrator commercials in the past, but I thought I’d go ahead and revisit the topic. Recently The Young Turks did a segment about Trojan’s television campaign. The ads are corny, but I’m definitely okay with sex toys pushing their way into the main stream. I found it interesting that Trojan made some “concessions” and promised never to actually use the word “vibrator” or actually show the vibrator itself. This question was asked by Noel Sheppard in an article called Sex Toy Advertising During Prime Time – What’s Next?  Apparently he sat down to watch a movie with his children when the commercial for the Trojan Her Pleasure Vibrating Touch commercial aired.

“It’s hard enough watching television with your kids these days given all the Viagra and Cialis commercials, but are we now going to have to put up with ads for sex toys?”

Is it really so bad? The commercial is pretty innocent and isn’t graphic in any way. There are advertisements that alude to sexual behavior and bare more skin than in a lingerie catalog. Most people don’t think twice about them. Naturally, I believe sex toy use contributes to sexual health and I am glad it has hit the main stream.

Sheppard asked his readers to watch and decide for themselves as to whether or not the commercial is appropriate before 10 PM. I am going to ask the same of my sex toy loving ladies and gents.
