The Glory of Glass

Pink Glass Dildo by Don WandsGlass dildos are among the most popular sex toys on the market.  Ever since their appearance on a variety of HBO specials, they have been flying off the shelves like hot cakes.  Not that I have ever seen a hot cake fly.  I only recently discovered all of the gloriousness that glass has to offer.  I love it and you will too.

Many consider glass dildos to be a staple in their toy collection, however many women cringe at the thought of putting glass inside their beloved pink parts.

Thought process: glass –> broken glass –> vagina –> no thanks.

This isn’t a completely irrational thought process.  However, glass dildos are not made from the same glass that your dishes are made of.  They are made from borosilicate, acrylic or lucite.  Borosilicate is also known as Pyrex.  It is considered to be a soft glass, but it is by no means fragile.  It is in its soft molten state when it is being molded and sculpted.  Pyrex is tempered, which means it is put through a process of extreme heating and cooling.  This makes it 4 to 5 times stronger than standard glass and will not shatter.  It is possible to chip your Pyrex dildo, but highly unlikely.  Acrylic is also an extremely durable shatterproof material.  A crack may occur, but is also unlikely.

Does that ease your mind?  It should.  Glass dildos and your vagina can and should be friends.  Good friends.  And not just because they won’t spontaneously explode during an intense solo session.

Glass dildos are oh so satisfying.  Since they are firm, they are perfect for g-spot and prostate stimulation.  Once a dab of lube is applied, the smooth surface makes for pleasurable external warm up.  Glass is also ideal for temperature play.  Submerse in warm or cool water and in no time you can add a whole new element to toy time.  Why temperature play?  It doesn’t take a scientist to know that warmth simply feels nice.  It encourages the clitoris to engorge quickly, which induces natural lubrication and heightens arousal.  Placing a cold object on your naughty bits may sound less than sexy, but it does serve a purpose.  Cold can act as a reset button for the clitoris.  It calms the nerves and constricts the blood vessels.  Many women find that this gets them ready for round 2 in a matter of minutes.  Some simply enjoy the sensation.  Never warm your glass dildo in the microwave!

Glass feels great, but you should definitely know your dildo size.  If you purchase one that is too large, your pretty new toy will be useless to you.  There is no give when it comes to glass.  Think about it.

When purchasing a glass dildo you are also purchasing a little handmade work of art.  While they can be the cause of many fabulous orgasms, they also look gorgeous just sitting on the coffee table.

Glass toys are nonporous and 100% hypoallergenic so there is no need to worry about any allergic reactions.  They are totally body safe and perfect for those who have latex or other allergies.  Avoid painted glass.  Any color should be embedded in the glass.  Another awesome feature – you can use either water based or silicone based lubricant.  Unlike silicone toys, the silicone lube will not eat away at the toy.  Since glass is nonporous, it will not absorb the lube.  A little really does go a long way here.

If treated with care, your glass dildo will last a life time.  Simply wash with soap and water.  Store your toy in the padded pouch that most manufacturers include with your dildo.  There are no pores for bacteria to hide in, so glass will not naturally break down and become an oddly shaped gelatinous mess.

Glass dildos can get pretty pricey, but you can find a quality glass dildo for around $30.  Don Wands makes a ton of attractive and satisfying glass products that won’t break the bank.  No excuses!  Get your glass dildo.  You can thank me later.
