Masturbation Material or Art Medium?

Whether you are willing to submerse yourself into sexuality educator and artist Midori’s commentary on society’s insecurity and “fear of imperfection”, or you just want to giggle at a piece of furniture made of blow up dolls, check out this three minute video from the San Francisco Erotic Arts Festival.  The piece is called LoveSeat.

LoveSeat will also be featured in artist Midori’s one woman show, Plastics, at the San Francisco gallery – Femina Potens.  You will find headphone breasts, conch shell vaginas and many other mediums used to display human body parts as “Art Pranks”.

When Violet Blue interviewed Midori she asked, “What are you trying to show with plastic and sexuality”?  In her answer she stated, “When brought out from the shadows of old-school sleazy sex shops, and made into playful, interactive art pieces, it [a love doll] provokes reaction, discussion and shifts in attitudes in non-didactic ways. When my piece The LoveSeat showed at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, it was so popular and controversial, with so many people sitting on it while chatting, making out or arguing, that the piece slowly broke down under the weight of bodies and ideas. It was marvelous! The reaction could be called the LoveSeat Effect.”
